ABOUT OUR EVENTS

Wounds Canada is excited to offer four highly interactive virtual conference events AND we are also delighted to announce that our National Conference, including French stream, will also be held in-person at The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel from October 14-16.

Click on each event below for more details.

This one-day virtual learning event on limb preservation is a joint venture between Wounds Canada and the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association. The program, chaired by Dr. Ahmed Kayssi, will provide national and international perspectives on the advances in managing diabetic foot-related complications.

Accreditation:

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This activity has been approved by the Canadian Society for Vascular Surgery. You may claim a maximum of 5.5 hours (credits are automatically calculated).

Claiming your credits: Visit MAINPORT https://mainport.royalcollege.ca to record your learning and outcomes.

Through an agreement between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert Royal College MOC credits to AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert Royal College MOC credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.

This program was co-developed by the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Toronto; and Wounds Canada, and was planned to achieve scientific integrity, objectivity and balance.

Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent participating in the educational program.

Please note that only the synchronous “live” event is counted towards the MOC Section 1 credit hours. Viewing of recording sessions post-event can be claimed under MOC Section 2 Self-Learning:

  • Podcasts, audio, video – 0.5 credits per activity
  • Personal learning projects – 2.0 credits per hour

Other Credits:

College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) members may claim certified credits through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Royal College) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Accredited Section 1 credits are eligible for certified credits, up to a maximum of 50 credits per five-year cycle. Any additional credits are eligible as non-certified credits. See https://www.cfpc.ca/en/education-professional-development/mainpro/claiming-credits-from-national-and-international-o for additional information. In addition, this program offers continuing education hours/professional development opportunities for nurses, chiropodists/podiatrists and allied health-care professionals. Check with your governing body for details on how to claim/record these hours.

At Wounds Canada, we believe centring the voice of the patient is crucial to enacting change in the health-care system and delivering the best possible wound care. That's why we're proud to be hosting “Our Voices, Our Stories”—a national wound care patient experience conference. This unique two-day learning, outreach and knowledge exchange event is funded through a grant from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada, led by Drs. Ide Costa, Catherine Phillips and Michelle Spadoni of Lakehead University, and Dr. Pilar Plazas of Queen's University, in collaboration with Wounds Canada. The purpose of this conference is to bring together citizens impacted by complex wounds, researchers, health and social service providers, educators, community leaders and policy makers.

This event will provide an opportunity to listen to individuals’ and families’ stories of the impact of hard-to-heal wounds on their lives, identify the gaps and synergies in wound care provision and identify areas in which holistic wound management can be enacted.

The Wounds Canada National Conference is the largest wound‑related event in Canada, bringing together health-care professionals, educators and key opinion leaders in both a virtual and on-site gathering in Toronto. This hybrid continuing education event is designed to support health-care professionals who work with patients with wounds or who are at risk for developing wounds. Both conference formats will be available for those who are able to join us in Toronto and for those who prefer to meet virtually. The conference consists of:

  • Friday, October 14 - English single stream
  • Saturday, October 15 - English and French double stream
  • Sunday, October 16 - English single stream

The Pressure Injury Symposium coincides with the recognition of Worldwide Pressure Injury Day on Thursday, November 17, 2022. This virtual event will examine the risks and causes along with the multi-disciplinary comprehensive management of pressure injuries by dietitians, nurses, surgeons, physicians and physiatrists to develop strategies, overcome barriers and improve patient outcomes. Join us for this one-day virtual learning event with co-chairs Dr Alan Rogers and Stephanie Chadwick.
